AM4
First of all, many thanks to Andrew for getting this to me so quickly - especially with it being just before Christmas! Anyone familiar with the top class Fractal sound quality will not be disappointed with the sounds of the AM4. It compromises absolutely nothing in this respect. The AM4 is certainly a lot simpler to use than it's big brothers (or sisters?) - particularly for on-the-unit editing. I still mostly use the editor, just out of habit, but I've found it simple to make changes on the fly at gigs etc when needed. Whether or not you find the 4 block set-up limiting really depends one what your needs are. For, it covers about 90% of what I would want it to, but others might struggle with it. Then again, others might buy it purely for its modelling and sweet time-based effects and add their own, outboard effects. I'm taking a while to get used to having only the four pedal switches. They can mean requiring two steps to get a desired result, rather than just one, but then I've been more used to the FM9, which has no such limitations. Those more used to the FM3 will probably have no problem with this. I have added an expression pedal and set it up to mute and open the tuner on heel down, as well as a momentary switch pedal that I use for tap tempo, but these are just personal preferences. What I love most about the AM4 - other than its sound - is its lightness and relatively small profile. The fact that a box weighing almost nothing and that fits easily in a gig bag side pocket can produce tones that have people coming up and saying, "Wow... I love the sound of that guitar" (and, believe me, they're not talking about the playing) is utterly astonishing. If you just want brilliant tones, in a tiny package, at a very affordable price, you won't find anything better, in my opinion.
